Week of Oct. 12

Mrs. Colquitt

Intricate Design

Microscope viewing was introduced in science as we zoomed in on roots and stems. We see the broad beauty of God's creation every day, especially in Park City, so it was engaging to view His intricate design in the life source of plants. We will view more samples next week, and scholars are encouraged to bring a root, stem, leaf, or petal to mount on glass slides.

We began our fractions math unit with crafting pizzas based on adding and subtracting fractions to correlate to toppings. We need to back up a little bit and focus on factorization next week so that we are solid on finding least common denominators. And if anyone wants to send in a pizza, I won't complain! :)

We have a full essay next week on Columbus' arrival in San Salvador. Please ask your child to give you 10 facts about Columbus and his voyage. Know that the rough draft will be coming home and I always encourage parents to read and give feedback so that you not only know what your child is writing, but also where he or she may need to become stronger.

Over the weekend your child will be practicing spoken Latin by asking and telling where things are. Thank you in advance for engaging in their weekend speaking homework. Repetite est mater memoria!

Thank you so much to everyone who has come in for conferences! I have really enjoyed getting to know your children and am thankful for each and every one of you.
