Magic Milk and Fruit Salad Toss Up
We had a fun week in fifth grade, but making Magic Milk and playing Fruit Salad Toss Up were some of the highlights. Integrating both math and science, we determined how many cups of milk and the average number of drops of food coloring we would need before we performed the experiment. Once we had the milk and desired colors, a dish soap covered q-tip was used to make the milk swirl as the molecules from the soap sought to bind and spread out with the fat molecules in the milk. We incorporated art by making watercolor paper prints with the marbled milk.
With the lovely sun and lack of wind on Wednesday, we had to get outside and play the student-favorite: Fruit Salad Toss Up. This game can be played to review any subject, and we had an active review of photosynthesis and flower structure. Ask your child how the game works!
I hope you enjoy the weekend! Any unwanted candy can be donated on Monday to be sent overseas to our military.
