Dr. Marvin

Science is all around us!

An object at rest stays at rest, and an object in motion stays in motion, unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.  Sir Isaac Newton

Physics students explored all three of Newton’s Laws this week. They determined the force of gravity on an object, calculated its mass, and successfully calculated its acceleration in free fall. Students were pleased to see that all their hard work and careful measurements resulted in an acceleration equal to gravity. Physics is all around us!

Earth Science scholars are exploring Earth’s minerals! Students are testing various properties for unknown mineral samples to uncover their identity. They determined mineral luster, hardness, color, and streak. Other properties the students investigated included cleavage and magnetism. Scholars really enjoyed this lab!
