A Multi Pronged Approach to Literacy
We are now four weeks into the school year and literature is firing on all cylinders! At Telos, students are engaged in multiple books at one time. Every student reads one independent reading book per month and shares it with the class. Students engage in exegetical reading in class, as we engage and analyze a challenging text together. Scholars practice their book discussion skills in student led literature circles. Finally, students enjoy the delight of a great story by listening to a fourth book during a short daily read-aloud time. By the end of the school year, scholars will have engaged over twenty five different texts - what an amazing opportunity to develop fantastic thinking skills.
