Week of Sept. 16th

This week has been packed with learning in 6th grade.  We are now well into our novel, Across Five Aprils. and have been delving into the particulars of Civil War history. Since our chapters have been heavy on dialogue, we turned them into a reader's theatre - complete with old fashioned apple cake and southern accents!  

We completed our first chapter in math and added a few new math games to our repertoire - Multiplication Tic Tac Toe  and Rock, Paper, Scissors, Math.  Next week we will launch into fractions. 

In science, we put our learning about the scientific method into action. Students hypothesized about the ability of seeds to sprout in light and dark conditions and then designed experiments in groups to test their predictions.  Our students did a great job of organizing their experiments.  We look forward to observing the results next week!
