Mrs. Ni
New Start
I was so happy to see the faces of the Kindergarten students after a long break. I loved hearing their stories about spending time with family and Christmas adventures.
Our focus this month in Phonics will be on practicing those consonant-vowel-consonant words and gaining fluency. We had group reading this week in which we read two short stories. We will be doing a lot more reading in the coming weeks to build the students' abilities to read words quickly and with confidence.
The highlight of the week was making a Snowstorm in a Jar for Science! We mixed white paint, water, blue food coloring, and glitter in a jar. We combined that with a jar of baby oil. The real fun started when we dropped alka seltzer tablets into the jar to create a swirl of “snow”. The children were amazed! We discussed how oil and water doesn't mix.
Looking forward to the week ahead!
