Week of Nov. 10

Mrs. Ni

Italian Adventures

This week in Kindergarten the class continued our exploration of the world by learning about Italy. We discussed that Italy is a country inside the continent of Europe that has some incredible history. We talked about the city of Rome and the students made a magical classical connection-relating it to our History timeline!

We learned that Italy was home to a special painter and artist named Leonardo da Vinci. The students were excited to hear that Leonardo wasn’t just an artist, but also an inventor! He loved to ask questions about all the things around him. We read the book called Leonardo and the Flying Boy to learn all about one of da Vinci’s inventions. Although his ‘flying machine’ wasn’t destined to stay in the air for long, he dreamed of humans taking flight. We marveled at his vision many centuries ago and how easy it is for us to get on an airplane and fly anywhere in the world!

The class also looked at photos from Mrs. Ni’s trip to Italy from summer. The students were especially astonished by the city of Venice, with its “streets” filled with water!

Ciao until next week!
