Week of Oct. 20

Mrs. Ni

Moments in Time

What an eventful and exciting week for the Kindergarten class! This week we continued to work our way through the alphabet. Our letters of focus this week were b and e. We focused on handwriting these letters, recognizing their sounds in what we hear, and even writing 3 letter words to practice blending.

During Biblical Studies, we followed Moses’ story further by learning about how God called Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. This was the perfect lesson after our introduction to the virtue fortitude. We discussed that he had to do his best to practice fortitude because he didn’t want to do what God was asking of him. The class made burning bushes using straws to blow paint across a page.

Our geography lesson stayed in the continent of South America but focused on the country of Ecuador. Specifically, we read about the Galapagos islands and the animals that live there. For a bit of immersion, the class listened to Ecuadorian music and ate Ecuadorian snacks. We all agreed that the lime chifles(green plantain) were our favorite.

To wrap up the week, we celebrated with Hall of Heroes! Our class featured the figures George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, and Pocahontas. The students did a wonderful job mingling and sharing the facts that they knew about their historical figures.
