Hidden Colors of Fall
This month at Telos, we are learning about and practicing the virtue of temperance. The Kindergarten class has had opportunities everyday to practice this virtue as working to make good choices. Challenges include taking turns, allowing other classmates to have time to think before blurting out answers, and navigating cooperation. We also explored the theme of temperance through literature, history, and Biblical Studies. Encouraging your child to practice this virtue at home will allow them to blossom in these areas.
Perhaps the most exciting thing to happen in the classroom this week is our leaf chromatography experiment. The students cut up leaves of varying colors, ground them in a mortar, and placed each color in a jar of rubbing alcohol. We placed coffee filters in the jars to soak up the liquid overnight. The variations of colors in each set of leaves was so exciting to see. Another example of God’s wondrous creation!
