Week of Sept. 15

Mrs. Ni

Ladybugs and geography!

What a full and busy week we had in the Kindergarten classroom! We explored so many things this week and the students are really becoming attuned to our daily rhythms.

The class is working diligently on Phonics. As we review letters in the alphabet, we use fun activities to practice blending and segmenting sounds. Ask your students about Tap it, Map it, Zap it! I will continue to send home practice sheets at the end of the week so you can spend a bit of time exploring these skills over the weekend.

Science was focused on ladybugs and we had a great time learning more about them. We had no idea there were shiny blue or pink spotted ladybugs! We discussed the life cycle and completed note-booking with beautiful watercolor versions.

We ended the week with Geography, continuing to practice the names of continents and oceans while focusing on North America. We will be taking a closer look at countries in North America over the coming weeks. This week we talked about Canada! We spent time familiarizing ourselves with the Canadian map and animals that we might find there.

Have a wonderful weekend! Hope to see you at our first assembly next Wednesday morning at 8:45!
