Week of Sept. 29

Mrs. Ni

Butterfly Adventures

The Kindergarten class has spent several weeks exercising patience while observing our classroom caterpillars transform into butterflies. We watched them munch on their food and grow larger and larger. One by one, they transformed into a chrysalis doing a mighty work of transformation on the inside. What a wonderful surprise to arrive back to class this Monday to see 4 out of 5 butterflies had emerged from their cozy homes. The last one decided to make its debut during our Physical 15 recess time.

Wednesday, we had our first large exploration as a class and went to the Butterfly Biosphere at Thanksgiving Point. It was so exciting to spend time in the biosphere watching the various colors of butterflies flit to and fro. Everyone even had a turn holding onto the delicate creatures!

Alongside our other classroom activities, we have been practicing ordinal numbers in math. These are words such as first, second, third, and so on. We used our animal figurines to practice this concept by lining them up and choosing which ordinal number is said out loud. This also enabled us to practice left and right by using terms such as “fourth from the right”.

Thank you for your continued support of our learning in the Kindergarten classroom!
