Salt of the Earth!
This week we dove into our new read aloud Elmer and the Dragon. The study guide I paired with the book is designed for older students, but our class is rising to the challenge. We explored fun language skills like alliteration, onomatopoeia, synonyms, antonyms, and some big vocabulary words. The students love showing what they know and are so proud when I quiz them each day.

We are also making great progress memorizing our second poem Be Even Tempered. It is wonderful to see the students’ excitement as they share how they practiced both the poem and spelling words each week at home.

In Biblical Studies we made a salt craft to go along with Matthew 5:13, “You are the salt of the earth.” William said, “This is my favorite project so far,” and the class all chimed in to agree. In Math, skip counting by 2’s around the room turned into one of our new favorite games. It had everyone laughing and learning at the same time!

It has been a full and fun week!
