6th Grade blog is BACK! :)
What a great week in 6th grade! Among the high points of the week have been excellent recitations of the Gettysburg Address, learning about Shakespeare's life and times, performing operations with negative numbers, and our yearly Hall of Heroes presentations. One of the distinctives of Christian classical education is the emphasis on rhetoric, referred to by Plato as "the art of enchanting the soul." Events like the Hall of Heroes provide every student the opportunity to grow in their public speaking skills, and our daily classroom work guides students take the apostle Paul's instruction to heart: Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. (Philippians 4: 8)
I am proud of the way our students presented their characters in such winsome ways, and even prouder of the fact that they are growing in their ability to discern what is noble and praiseworthy.
