Week of Oct. 27

On any day of 6th grade this week, you might have heard students asking, “Is it time for Shakespeare?”  This week, we learned about theatre in Elizabethan times and created our own mini-models of the Globe Theatre.  Students discovered the bard of Avon’s impact on the English language and explored some of the hundreds of Shakespearean words and phrases  we still use today.  We also familiarized ourselves with the story and characters of "the Scottish play," and even had a visit from Lady Macbeth to tell her point of view of the tragedy!  Classical education trains students to have a deep appreciation for the rich heritage of Western civilization. Next week we’ll read and perform the original text!
