Week of Sept. 1

This was a short week for pre-algebra class time but the field trip to climb on Wednesday was time well spent.  Just like our scholars attacked the challenge of climbing the wall, I hope they learn to attack challenging math problems with the same enthusiasm.  We want our students to see the value in trying hard things--both in and out of the classroom.  In class, we continued working on solving equations and ended the week with our first quiz.  This is a foundational skill for future mathematics, and the students are learning the importance of paying attention to the details.  Even a simple negative sign can lead to very different solutions!
