Linear Equations!
This week in pre-algebra, we continued our journey through solving linear equations. The students have gotten much more comfortable with the rules of solving, and we have added in application problems to keep them on their toes. Students have opportunities almost daily to present their work to the class as seen in the picture above. Being able to solve a problem is one skill, but being able to explain it to the group is a different skill set that we will be working on throughout the school year. Additionally, we are talking daily about paying attention to the details of the problem. Forgetting one small negative sign or making a tiny arithmetic error can cause a domino effect on down through the problem. Being precise and paying attention to all the details is a skill that is useful in more than just math and I hope we will take a step forward in this area this school year.
