Mrs. Colquitt
Two Thirds Complete!
The days always fly by in active classrooms. I love teaching because no two days are the same, and even though I absolutely LOVE summer in Utah, I try to cherish the moments we have as a class because they pass so quickly. Mrs. Sytsma informed us that if the year were divided into thirds, we are already two thirds done! In fifth grade we will be focusing on finishing the year strong, not only with learning, but also with our focus on the virtues of charity and service.
A few highlights from the week:
- Writing about Benjamin Franklin's contribution to our nation
- Learning about Phillis Wheatley and analyzing her poetry
- Mapping the transatlantic slave trade and considering the Hebrew meaning behind the "mark of Cain" in Genesis 4
- Solving volume problems for complex figures
- Comparing monocular and binocular vision in birds
Have a wonderful weekend!
