Good stewards of the earth!
This week, both upper school science classes rounded out their first unit of study for the quarter.
Middle school scholars reflected on our responsibility to be good stewards of the Earth. As the students so beautifully said, “God made everything, and we should treat it with respect, to guard and protect.” In studying science, we will dive deep into God’s creation and marvel at the intricate works of His hands.
Highschool physics scholars jumped right into the fundamentals of forces and mechanical equilibrium. The students constructed rock climbing anchors to measure the tension on support ropes at a series of angles. After analyzing the downward force on anchor bolts, and taking into consideration lateral anchor stability, scholars were able to correctly conclude an optimal anchor design that is well established in the sport. By exploring real-world examples, students can truly understand how the study of science reveals the inner workings of the world around us in our daily lives.
