Experiencing Physics and Earth Science Firsthand
When students experience science firsthand, they build a love for the subject and gain a deeper understanding of the material.
Physics students are learning about the vertical and horizontal components of vectors and how they act independently of each other. Scholars studied projectile motion of marbles to see for themselves that a horizontally launched marble will meet a second marble at the same vertical location, regardless of horizontal motion.
Middle school scholars are studying ways to visualize Earth. They learned the basics of topography and created their own topographical maps of the area around Telos. Their maps were complete with contour lines, indexing for elevation, and distance scaling.
