Winds, Wonders, and Wisdom
The Kindergarten class is enjoying the final weeks of school with plenty of fun and meaningful learning. Highlights from this week included making windsocks, creating elephant toothpaste, and conversations about the Golden Rule.
In Biblical Studies, we learned that Jesus is always with us, even on difficult days. We studied Mark 4 and read about Jesus calming the storm while the disciples were afraid. Through this story, we were reminded of Jesus’ power and presence. Our windsocks served as a special reminder that even the wind and waves obey God.
Science this week was especially exciting as we made elephant toothpaste! Students watched the reaction between hydrogen peroxide and yeast, with soap added to create even more bubbly fun. We also learned a new science word — exothermic — as we discovered that the reaction produced warmth we could feel.
As the school year winds down, we are continuing to reinforce the virtues we have practiced all year long. We watched a video about the Golden Rule, which led to thoughtful and meaningful classroom discussions. Kindergarten has also adopted a new phrase: “Gold rush!” Whenever a student or teacher says it, it serves as a reminder to ‘stop and think about what we say and do’.
