Challenging Ourselves & Celebrating!
This week in first grade, we focused on the “ay” and “ai” vowel teams, and the students did an amazing job! I was so proud of their hard work on their phonics tests. Many students even chose to challenge themselves by taking the more difficult two-syllable test option. They did a fantastic job, and I absolutely love their willingness to push themselves!
We also celebrated Valentine’s Day a little early and filled our day with fun activities and learning challenges. We set a goal to learn how to tell time earlier than planned and made fun clocks to help us practice. Greater than, less than, and equal to were introduced in math.
Students made festive Valentine’s Day bags, played R-controlled vowel bingo, and enjoyed some snacks (thank you, parents!) before exchanging cards and small gifts. It was a wonderful day! Have an amazing break!
