Week of March 9

Mrs. Olson

What a Week! Aquarium and Coffee House

Our first graders loved their trip to the aquarium! They had such a wonderful experience. Prior to going, we studied the ocean and also spent time exploring the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium website, learning as much as we could about the animals featured there.

The class favorites quickly became Gabi and Green, the rescued sea turtles who were rehabilitated at the aquarium. Students were excited to learn about their special weighted backpacks that help them with floating issues. During our visit, we explored every exhibit, ate lunch in the beautiful plaza, spent some time playing on the play structure, and even experienced the ocean in 3D.

A big thank you to our chaperones! You made the trip so easy and such a wonderful experience for everyone.

Next week we will spend time discussing our trip and deciding which animal each student would like to learn more about. Students will then begin their informational writing pieces about their chosen animal. It was truly a wonderful experience filled with learning!

To end our week, we had our Coffee House, and your students all did amazing! I couldn’t stop smiling while watching their performances and seeing their excitement. It’s incredible how many poems and biblical recitations they have memorized this year. They are truly rockstars!
